Wharton High School Lockdown – Officials have declared two Wharton ISD schools to be in lockdown following a stabbing at Wharton High School. According to Terry David Lynch, the head of the Wharton Police Department, there was a brawl between several students, and two of the participants were stabbed. Both students were taken to the hospital while still awake and cognizant. The first student was flown by helicopter to Memorial Herman Hospital in the Texas Medical Center, while the second was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
According to officials, two pupils have been detained. Both Wharton Junior High and the high school were suspended, but officials said that the disturbance was started by students and not by anyone from the outside community. All other students have been reported safe, according to officials.
Wharton PD said the investigation is ongoing.
