Walmart Affiliate Program: How To Make $1000 Monthly

If you are in the USA, I don’t really think Walmart needs a lot of introduction here.

But for a quick run through,

Walmart is a chain of department stores founded years ago.

The store is the second largest in North America, after the Big Amazon.

Guess what?

They have an affiliate program like Amazon too, even though their regard differs.

In fact, Walmart has a profitable affiliate program for anyone with a Family kind of audience, at least in my own realistic view.

But then, there are core information, unrevealed to many about what Walmart has to offer in their affiliate program.

Here on this page, you will learn every single thing you need to know about Walmart affiliate programs.

Similarly, we will compare and contrast Amazon affiliate programs and Target affiliate programs.

Walmart affiliate program review… It’s a go.

Overview of Walmart

As explained earlier, Walmart is one of the biggest stores in the US.

They now have over 10,500 stores in 24 different countries as of January, 2022.

Sincerely, I believe more would be brought up before December, 2022. They tend to open a new store every other week.

The stocks of products in Walmart stores are extensive.

And you can make money from promoting the products on Walmart and getting leads.

I really want to tell you about Walmart’s affiliate program. So, do not exit the page now.

How does Walmart Affiliate Program Work?

Walmart affiliate program

Walmart affiliate program is a commission per sale affiliate program hosted on Impact radius.

If you don’t know, Target also has an affiliate program, similar to Walmart and hosted on Impact Radius.

So, Impact manages all the inventory and promotional needs of affiliates in both Walmart and Target affiliate program

One of the promotional tools,  Walmart SDK, allows you to place the telltale orange “Buy Now” button directly on your website, making it easier for readers to make a purchase.

Also, Walmart has an affiliate page, if you’d like to ascertain any information on it.

Similarly, the products you’d see when you walk into Walmart stores are available on Walmart.com.

However, not all products are eligible for commission in the affiliate program.

Let’s quickly cover the deets of those products you can not earn commission on.

What are the Products You can Promote in the Walmart Affiliate Program?

There are a lot to promote on Walmart and earn commission from. In fact, a very huge selection to choose from.

Going from Electronics, Toys, Photos, Wireless, Baby, Health and beauty, Home, Gift and registry, Jewelry, Sport and outdoors, Patio and Gaming.

All of the products under this category are eligible for commission.

Likewise, some categories are not eligible for commission per sale. Promoting them might just be a waste of time and energy.

Well, most affiliate program don’t pay commission on a few categories. Khols and Target do this too.

Nevertheless, here are the categories of products you will not earn commission on:

  • Tires
  • Food
  • Video game hardware
  • Baby consumables

Walmart Affiliate Program Commission

Anyone trying to get into the Walmart affiliate program will be like “Hey, How much does Walmart pay?”

Well, Walmart commission rate is about 1%-4% per sale depending on the products. That is, some products have a higher commission rate than others.

In fact, except for Overstock affiliate program having a constant 6% commission rate, virtually all the top ecommerce stores have their commission rate varying depending on which products you are promoting.

So, before I can answer that question precisely about how much Walmart pays, you must have made the decision of which category of products you’d be promoting first.

For the list of products below, you will earn 1% commission rate per sale:

  • Wireless
  • Toys
  • Electronics (including movies, music, and video games)
  • Photo

Similarly, any sale made on any of the product listed below, you will earn 4% commission:

  • Baby
  • Health and beauty category
  • Clothing
  • Gifts and registry
  • Home
  • Jewelry
  • Patio and garden
  • Sports and outdoors

Sincerely, I’m not moved by the commission rate at all. It is incredibly poor.

And this is one of the reasons Amazon is coming over other affiliate programs for physical products. It’s not like Amazon has a lot to show off too but you can still earn commissions of 3% on electronics,  7% on clothing etc.

Walmart really needs to improve on the commission rate if they are looking to match the market.

Walmart Affiliate Program Cookie Duration

The cookie duration is 3 days for the affiliate program.

On a side note, this is more than Amazon 24 hours short cookie duration and less than Target 7 days tracking duration.  Even way less than Overstock 30 days cookie duration.

This is one reason I always try to pick Overstock over other affiliate programs for Ecommerce stores.

The longer the cookie duration, the higher the conversion rate. Your referral might not be able to buy anything within 3 days.

However, within 30 days, they can always come back to the online store to make a purchase. Hence, Walmart could have done better with giving more chances for affiliate conversion.

Wait? You really don’t know what cookie duration means?

Cookies are packets of data used to track affiliate referrals.

Once your referral clicks your affiliate link, these packets of data would settle in their  browser. It would then start monitoring and tracking your referral activity on Walmart website.

This cookie would only be active and able to track referrals for the 3 days cookie duration.

Hence, if your referrals should make a purchase within that 3 days duration, it would be attributed to you. Since, your referrals won’t be tracked after the third day, any purchase made would not be attributed to you.

You can now see that longer days would have been preferable to increase conversion rate.

Well, does that mean Walmart affiliate program is not worth it?

Walmart Affiliate Program Review: Is it Worth it?

Walmart affiliate program is worth your work and time. But I would never advise anyone to use Walmart program as the main source of Website revenue or   audience monetisation.

That’s because the conditions of the affiliate program does not make returns very easy for the affiliates.

Similarly, Walmart affiliate program does not receive the same omnipresent accolade as Amazon affiliate program.

Over my short years of experience in the Internet marketing field, more emphasis has been laid on Amazon affiliate programs over other e-commerce affiliate programs.

Everyone is always talking about the Amazon affiliate program because it does not have the most beneficial regards.

So, even if you will still use Walmart affiliate programs, combining with Amazon associates can increase your returns.

Chill! It’s making money time.

Can You Make $1000 From Walmart Affiliate Program?

First of all, let’s address the issue of hitting $1000 monthly in the affiliate program. It is actually possible depending on your traffic and the kind of products you are promoting.

For instance, if you are promoting a laptop of $500, your 1% commission rate will make you $5 per sale.

Hence, you need about 200 sales to hit your $1000 commission returns.

So, if you can have about 8,000 Laptop enthusiast website visitors monthly, only 3% conversion can make you 200 sales, equaling the $1000.

Also, the payment structure is on a Net 60 basis.   That is you will receive the commission after 60 days of your referral purchase.

This would help to ascertain that your referrals would not be returning the product.

Walmart Affiliate Program Sign Up

It’s really difficult to join the Walmart affiliate program. Even if you were approved by their competitors, their policies seem to be stricter and you would not be approved.

But then, You must have a website with a Family friendly oriented view. Avoid inane pages and adult contents which could ruin your site reputation.

Also, your website must be active when applying and also most of your traffic must come from North America.

So, to sign up, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Walmart affiliate page, <URL>
  2. Fill in your complete information in the sign up form.
  3. Input your promotional methods and website.
  4. Click on sigh when you are done.
  5. Wait for about 24 hours to receive an emaill of which you’d be notified whether you have been approved or not.

Pros And Cons of the Walmart Affiliate Program

Pros

  • Decent cookie duration: Normally, the cookie duration of affiliate programs for physical products is always about 24 hours. So, 3 days is still cool, Yeah!
  • Recognized Brand: I don’t know about the traction of Walmart in other countries, but in North America, Target has the best physical selling activity. Trust me, Amazon only relies on its online mechanism.
  • Product variety: there are lots of products to choose from indeed.

Cons

  • Poor commission rate: The poor commission rate is definitely one of things running them down.

Alternatives Of Walmart Affiliate Program

Of course, there are so many alternatives to Walmart affiliate programs. Let’s talk about the popular ones.
