Two Vehicles Collided, Injuring A Passenger On Old County Road In Rockland

A two-vehicle collision in front of the Rockland Golf Course on Old County Road on Wednesday, October 12, resulted in the transportation of one person to Pen Bay Medical Center. From the time of the 5:20 p.m. 911 call to dispatch until just before 6:15 p.m., when both vehicles were hauled from the site, the S-Curve section of the road remained restricted to traffic. Spencer Reuillard was accused by Rockland police of losing control of a car after becoming disoriented. Police Sgt. Scott Redmun said that Reuillard’s southbound car crossed the center line and collided directly with a transport van for the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.

Reuillard and the transport officer were uninjured, and Rockland EMS transported the transport caravan’s sole inmate to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Airbags deployed in both vehicles. Redmun estimates that local police see between half a dozen and a dozen vehicle crashes per year on that stretch of road.

“People need to be cognizant,” he said. “Internal distractions inside the car – external extractions outside the car as well – just…people need to pay attention.”
