A former member of the House of Represetatives and ex-Attorney General, Barrister Sani Mohammed Takori, has lamented that the accusations about Matawalle forging certificates and his date of birth were politically-motivated.
In an exclusive interview with DAILY POST in Gusau, Zamfara State capital, Takori stated that the matter is before the Federal High Court for judgment.
Speaking further, Takori said that the accusers of the state Governor did not come with authentic proof, saying that they did not do their homework well before coming out to make public and unlawful statements.
Takori noted that Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle had been in the Federal House of Representatives for 12 years and nobody argued his certificates or date or dates of birth.
According to him, the educational certificates are immaterial so far he has served in various capacities ranging from the local, state up to the federal level.
He explained that the plotters do not want Governor Matawalle to concentrate on his campaign strategies, saying that the law has stipulated everything because he is a lawyer and knows very much about the case.
Takori maintained that since the case is still in the court of competent jurisdiction, neither the state government nor Matawalle himself can talk on that issue.
The politician, who was a former chairman of Gummi Local Government Area of the state and presently, the permanent commissioner, Zamfara State Judiciary Reform Commission said that Governor Matawalle’s case
was motivated by the politicians from the state.
“I want to let you know that in politics, there is nothing like permanent enemy or permanent friend but permanent interest, so the Governor will be fair to every one irrespective of class, religion or status,” he said.
The permanent commissioner appealed to Zamfara State residents to, as a matter of fact, disregard some reports against the state government especially from the Sahara Reporters, saying that they are being sponsored to tarnish its image.
He however admitted that Zamfara State residents have been facing serious problems of banditry, saying that the people have not cared about how the state Governor has been trying his best to manage the situation.
“The people should also be made to understand that Governor Matawalle inherited this banditry activities from the passed government of the state.
“Why must everyone be accusing Governor Matawalle for not addressing security issue when it is clear that security of lives and properties of the citizens lies in the hands of the federal government,” he said.
