Al Dantes Jr. was killed in an accident in his hometown of L’Anse, Michigan, early this morning, and the news has left us feeling terrible. Dantes was a role model for the rally community and a true athlete. He had a passion for rallies and would push “Rexine” to the limit at rallies all over the country. Al was well-known to everyone and extended a smile and a handshake to everybody who approached him.
Dantes is currently in first place in the ARA Central 2WD rankings and was the defending ARA East Coast Regional 2WD champion. He was a father and a friend in addition to that. He was supposed to take part in the Lake Superior Performance Rally, which gets underway today. He would urge us to keep going. Regardless. To the Dantes family, and all of his friends and fellow competitors, we offer our support and prayers. Godspeed, Al
