Al Dantes Jr. was killed in an accident in his hometown of L’Anse, Michigan, early this morning, and the news has left us feeling terrible. Dantes was a role model for the rally community and a true athlete. He had a passion for rallies and would push “Rexine” to the limit at rallies all over the country. Al was well-known to everyone and extended a smile and a handshake to everybody who approached him.
Dantes is currently in first place in the ARA Central 2WD rankings and was the defending ARA East Coast Regional 2WD champion. He was a father and a friend in addition to that. He was supposed to take part in the Lake Superior Performance Rally, which gets underway today. He would urge us to keep going. Regardless.
